Dave Dugan, Craftsman
An interesting independent zine caught my eye in Atlas Comics last week and I had to purchase it. "Independent zine" might tangentially describe the item but it's definitely not a comic book.
Craftsman and artist Dave Dugan repurposed a breakfast cereal box to serve as the folder holding the individual pages of the 'zine.' The cereal box was somehow turned inside out and identifying words and artwork were stamped and/or printed on the cardboard that used to be the inside of the cereal box.
Stashed inside the box are ten separate pieces of cardboard which serve as the pages of the zine's story. Artwork and lettering are printed and/or stamped on the pieces of cardboard. The clear plastic bag that used to hold the breakfast cereal now serves as an organizing vessel to organize the separate cardboard pages. Not kidding.
This is one of the most unique items in my collection!
