Happy 50th to Jack Kirby's 4th!
It has now been fifty years since the fertile mind of Jack Kirby treated us all to his creative manifesto that would come to be known as his Fourth World. The first ideas sauntered in through the wholly unexpected back door of Jimmy Olsen comics, then there were the newly created titles The Forever People and The New Gods and Mister Miracle. So many concepts, so much raw energy and power, such great comics!
Writer Marc DeMatteis recently posted on twitter that the Fourth World books are his favorite comics of all time. So true! I totally concur! And, as longtime readers of The Hayfamzone Blog can attest, I have gone one step farther and proclaimed that The Forever People #1 is my favorite single comic of all time! Genius!
I never get tired of saying it: Hooray for Jack Kirby!
