Jack Kirby's Darkseid and Highfather by John Byrne

 

As the price of comic book original artwork has risen, I have adapted. Rather than focusing on precious Jack Kirby pages I have shifted my attention to pages that feature Jack Kirby characters but which are drawn by other artists.

Jack Kirby's Fourth World was a 20-issue series from DC Comics back in 1997 and 1998. The story and art in each issue were by John Byrne with covers provided by Walt Simonson.

Here is an interior page I own from issue 6, and it features Highfather confronting Darkseid. Rest assured that all that Kirby Krackle populating the bottom half of the page is hand-drawn! Upon closer inspection you will also see Orion and Mr. Miracle and Big Barda. Let's blow up the page really large so you can see every detail.
