Four NEW New Gods

 

Of course The New Gods was one of the Fourth World comics series created for DC Comics back in 1970 by Jack Kirby, the King of Comics. The Fourth World was the launching pad for Darkseid, possibly one of the three most significant DC Comics villains of all time (the other two being The Joker and Lex Luthor).

Every few years there is an attempt to revive the characters that populated The New Gods issues, some of the revivals being critically and/or financially successful (others not so much).

In 2011 when DC Comics rebooted itself with the so-called New 52 initiative, there was an interest in bringing back The New Gods in a different, established title (in Green Lantern, possibly). 

Four new characters to be designated as New Gods were designed by artist Pete Woods, but the new four never made it as far as appearing in a comic book. The designs are too beautiful not to be seen, though, so here they for your study and pleasure.
