1992 Photo of Steve Ditko

 

Throughout his long career, artist Steve Ditko dodged cameras and preferred to let his work be his face. The co-creator of Spider-Man! The co-creator of Doctor Strange! The creator of The Creeper! Of course everybody was curious what the gentleman looked like!

Yes, there were one or two photos that leaked out in the 1960s, but Mr. D did an exceptional job of keeping the lid on. But now a previously unseen photo has come out.

Nephew Mark Ditko has posted a 1992 photo of himself and his famous uncle. What a wonderful picture! From today forward, this is what what I will call up as my mental image of Steve Ditko. Here it is for your enjoyment also. Hooray for Steve Ditko!
