The Bellies of Basil Wolverton

I first learned of the genius of Basil Wolverton when I saw the 1973 cover to DC's Plop #1 and I have enjoyed the gentleman's quirky artwork increasingly more over the past five decades. One of his cleverest pieces appeared in 1958's Mad #40 and you may never have seen the artwork unless you own that issue. But the hayfamzone exists to spread the word!

The premise of this two-page feature is that you can identify a person merely by examining his or her disembodied stomach. Seriously. Could anyone have come up with this high concept other than Basil Wolverton? Could anyone else have executed it as flawlessly? Basil Wolverton!
