I'm Back at the Drawing Board!

After many years of virtual artistic inactivity, I have been coaxed out of hibernation to draw again.

I've written previously about how impressed I've been with the revived Ditkomania fanzine under the auspices of editor Rob Imes. Every issue has been a home run out of the park and I decided to finally hop on board the train (and of course there's nothing like a good old mixed metaphor to jar you back to reality!).

I contributed to DM way back in the '80s when its issue numbers were still in the fledgling single digits. I was very pleased that my new drawing made it into the anniversary 75th issue (and on the inside back cover no less!).

I drew Tiger-Man, but not as the steroid-drenched muscleman that Frank Thorne and Larry Lieber and even Steve Ditko bloated the character into after his far more restrained introduction by Ernie Colon. No, I drew him as more of a rag-doll instead. Why, you ask? What can I say; I'm a fan of Calvin and Hobbes! Look here for a reminder of what the three and only three Tiger-Man covers looked like. (But there may be new ones in the future. Did you read recently about an upcoming Atlas Comics revival that would bring Tiger-Man back to the newsstand?)

Click right here if you'd like to order an issue of Ditkomania for yourself, and definitely click here and here if you'd like to learn more about Steve Ditko.

(Anachronistor's Note: Hold on tight because this rap is pretty convoluted. I'm writing and posting this article on 9/27/2010 and not on 6/28/2010, and this is in spite of the fact that Ditkomania #75 was published way back in the Fall of 2009. I've been waiting quite a while to tell you this tale!)
