In September there will be a gallery exhibit entitled
Black Kirby at
Jackson State University in Mississippi and here are a couple of samples. I like what I'm seeing. Artists
John Jennings and
Stacy Robinson are definitely channeling some
Jack Kirby energy into their work. The piece entitled
Totem Oba has so much intricate detail layered on top of that energy that I almost felt I was looking at a newfound collaboration between
Jack Kirby and
Philippe Druillet.
The
Black Kirby show will be housed in the
JSU Liberal Arts Building and will feature about fifty works of art. You can see a slideshow of eight of the pieces over
